With increasing interest from artists and community partners who fall just outside the membership catchment area, Board of Directors of the Eastside Culture Crawl Society has voted to expand the eastern boundary to include Victoria Drive. The Cultch, a very supportive community partner and home to this year's preview and Echo Chamber, will now be within 'the zone'! How cool is that?!
Jeffrey Boone (of Jeffrey Boone Gallery) has been chosen to be our new Executive Director. His many qualifications will ensure that the Society keeps it's main objectives but he also brings talent that will enable the Society to grow and improve. He is a welcome addition to the team. When Valerie Arntzen, the outgoing Exective Director heard who had been hired her comment was "I leave it in very good hands!".
You may notice black metal crows on some of our buildings, flying with a paintbrush in their beaks....they are starting to identify our area as a cultural district full of artists in Vancouver. You can visit these buildings during the Crawl or call for an appointment with any of the artists in those buildings. These are the places to get those gifts for valentines, mother's day, birthdays, etc. for any occassion during the year! All of our artists can be contacted through this site.
Six board members, 2 artists, Executive Director and our publicist camped over on Gabriola Island for a three day strategic planning retreat. Lots of work got done and fun was had by all. Full report will be made at the next board meeting Sept 14.
