I have degrees from Emily Carr and UBC, where I learned design, art history and conceptual art. My most important training was in the ateliers of Ted Seth Jacobs and Tony Ryder--they taught me how to learn to draw the figure. If you can draw a believable figure, you can draw anything. Now I'm able to paint without the shackles of strict reference--as long as I keep doing my life drawing "scales," which I do at least once a week at Basic Inquiry Drop in Life Drawing studio on Main St. (I host the Sunday am. session: join us for a long pose 10-1 pm.)
e got degrees from UBC and Emily Carr and take one or two fabulous workshops each year--last year with Michael Grimaldi and Juliette Aristides, and this past year with Rob Liberace--figure-- and Graydon Parrish--15 days of Munsell Color mixing!
I'm an impressionist painter, leaning sometimes towards realism and sometimes towards abstraction. I want to recreate the beautiful gestures of people, trees, clouds to name a few. I hope to convey emotions of wonder, longing, and the calm, powerful energy of nature.
I show my painting at the gallery Arts Off Main, at 28th and Main. Also, I welcome you at my home studio and/or my Parker St. studio by appointment--email or give me a call with your ideas for commissions! I hope to see you soon.
