Eszter Burghardt is a Canadian-Hungarian artist living and working in Vancouver, BC.Since completing a BFA in 2000 from Emily Carr University she has exhibited internationally in the USA and is represented by the Bau-Xi Gallery in Canada.
Burghardt relies on her emotional response to capture the essence of a place.Much of her work is based from memory and imagination. Travelling into the wilderness is where she finds the catalysts needed to paint these inspired works.
Immersing herself into the surrounding environment, i.e. arctic vistas, moist forest interiors, and marshy wetlands, a uniquely narrated atmosphere evolves. The landscape based imagery she paints take on human qualities and become characters in visually told stories. Subtle hovering loops and distant specks of light act as quiet narrators that add to this engaging dialogue.
